You can earn up to 300% of the federal poverty guidelines and still qualify. (A family of four earning less than $83,250 per year, or a single person earning $40,770 per year, is eligible for legal services at a reduced rate under this program.) In addition, you may be asked to sign a tax and property return before hiring the lawyer. If your declared income or assets are subsequently found to be false or inaccurate, you will be retroactively liable for all fees owed to the attorney for the services actually provided.
